Yemeni people in conflict with water resources

Yemeni people in conflict with water resources

The problem of water resources in the country of Yemen has risen lately to a very dangerous degree. People in a city like Sana’a may face the problem of not finding water to use in their daily life. Women and children often queue in line for long hours to fetch water to their homes. Others go long distances to shallow unclean lakes to carry water back home. The scarcity of rainwater, the randomly excavating of wells as well as not using irrigation technology by the government is causing the problem to be worse. Compared to an average of one thousand cubic meters of water available to people only one hundred forty cubic meters are available for the people in Yemen to consume.
